poetry
Sean cleans the whiteboard tentatively
Averting his gaze towards the policewoman
Who stares fiercely back at him menacingly
He gives a loud giggle
And her fingers gave a malevolent wiggle
The morbid class burst into laughter
As a grin appeared on the mercurial policewoman
Some may misconstrue what is being described
But only the apes are sapient enough to comprehend
What satire and profanity can bring about
Laughter and reminiscence of the past

Grad poem
Graduation- kai wen
Give me just this moment, please, forever.
Replicate it for me on demand.
As I flow unceasingly downriver,
Do not make me leave this day behind.
Understand my bittersweet confusion
As graduation crystallizes youth,
Tallying my treasures with precision,
Illuminating wistfully my wealth.
Out of all my moments pluck this one,
Nor let me lose its grace until I'm done.
We would always exacerbate our teachers with our nonsense
Extenuating as soon as we realize that we have crossed an invisible barrier
Laconically, we are the apes of the school
Ostentation of verbal diarrhoea is our middle name
Vacuous to the nuisance we may have caused
Entertainment was the term used to describe the autrocity
Pleasant memories we will never forget
And the moments of glee and joy too
Never shall we part mentally
Despite being separated in this path of life
Indeed will we be bonded forever
And the ties of friendship will be eternal
Not forgetting the teachers who have guided us along
Lessons we have learnt from our fellow classmates
Include the stunning laughter from Phyllis
Kicking and screeching from Sean
Exigency of netball to Kai Qi
Mellifluous chatter from Melvin and gang
Approbation caused by frequent shouts from the porn king
Demonstrations of maltose eating by Jia Hao
Sudden flashes of light attributed to Kai Wen’s camera
“Oh this is terrible” by Sean
Do you still remember
Or do we need to ‘come again’?
Yes I suppose we shall do just that
Or perhaps on further consideration
Undermine the possibilities of ending it all here.

YAY
THANK GOODNESS!
With lots of candour, i declare that chemistry practical quite a breeze! Though there was abit of turbulence in the very first question.
"Add equal amts of Sodium Hydroxide & acid and add a piece of aluminium foil. Heat gently."
Efferversence was seen, but i cannot seem to identify the gas. But i can say laconically that it cannot be hydrogen. Neutralisation took place already. There should not be any reaction! That's my hypothesis lar. Those who got hydrogen must have added unequal amts of the acid and alkali ba.
Formenting a storm, the next question was the titration one. 24.4 was my reading... And its the same reading taken by Ms Wassan on the 1st floor. YAY! Thanks to my photo of screened methyl orange!
Next, a question on an alternative to titration was asked. That probably caused the students to become impervious. 5 marks... i wrote abt the temperature change thing... Plot graph using temp. change and from the intersection points, deduce the amt of acid required.
Finally the last question. aluminium and lead. no questions asked.
Another imperative issue i want to address is the part abt note sharing. i will be careful abt note-lending... Once bitten twice shy... I wun lend my notes to anyone whom cannot be trusted... YUp. ok. That's all for now.

Graduation poem
Stepping out of class for the last time
Tears started to form
I gazed at the unsually clean whiteboard
And knew that it will never be dirtied by us again
Never once did we fail to create cacophonies
In this humble classroom of ours
Each of us must climb our separate mountain
To reach at last our own extended view.
We can be no more than what we are,
Yet that is quite enough for us to do.
The world is far too great for comprehension,
And so we only know what we can know.
But given the abilities we're given,
That's still a long and weary way to go.
Yet on the way, how beautiful the moments!
How good it feels to have some skill or art!
How wonderful to pause in awestruck wonder
At what must fill the unsuspecting heart!
And so we're proud of each of you today
For all you've learned, and all you've tried to learn.
Knowledge brings the deepest satisfaction,
Not least because it's something that you earn.
Be it the noise created by Sean
Or the porn blabbled by the master of porn
All these verbal diarrhoea
Will be treasured forever.

The future and beyond
The future and beyond.
What lies in store for me? I have yet to choose between two paths.
Polytechnic or Junior College.
Let's do a proper analysis of what I have to do to get to my final goal of becoming a journalist. ( maybe working for the straits times? )
Polytechnic- Get 3 years course on mass communications at ngee ann poly
Pros:
- NO MATHS!!! NO SCIENCE!!! ( ok sounds foolish cos i have been doing fine for science. )
- No school uniform
- Taste of adult life
- Get rid of tiredness of normal school studying style
- no need to worry about A levels, which is the killer.
- Since my dream is to be a journalist, why study maths when its not needed? lol. maybe i'm wrong.
- Can join campus crusade for christ?
Cons :
- I waste 1 year of my life while my peers go ahead with NS. [ a large factor ]
- Get looked down upon by peers
- Not meet up with a particular batch of 2005 after graduation from poly. [ a large factor ]
- Not being able to go to university ( possibly )
Junior Colleges
Pros:
- 2 years only
- Follow my peers
- Keep up to my relatives expectations
- meet up wif a batch
- school uniform rawks?
Cons:
- difficult to pass A levels
- STRESSFUL
I must get to my dream if i were to choose poly. If i choose Jc i may not make it pass A levels...I cannot afford to lose everything in the pursuit of my dream... Or can I?
Choosing where to study
In Singapore, those wishing to study at university must first of all complete their pre-university (pre-U) course.
Upon completion of their GCE 'O' Level examinations, you can apply for entry to a junior college - of which there are 17 - for a two-year pre-university course, or to a centralised institute (CIs) for a three-year pre-university course. The two CIs - Jurong Institute and Outram Institute - were merged into a single institute on January 1st of this year.
Admission is based on a points system computed from the aggregate of your GCE 'O' Level results.
At the end of the pre-U course, you can sit for the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education 'Advanced' (GCE 'A') Level Examinations. Your eligibility for tertiary education will be determined by the results of these exams.
The curriculum for pre-U students comprises two compulsory subjects; the General Paper and Mother Tongue, and a maximum of four GCE 'A' Level subjects. Subjects offered in the Arts Course include English Literature, Music, Economics, History, Geography, Art & Design and Mathematics. The Science Course offers a choice of the following; Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Economics and Computing. Management of Business and Principles of Accounting are offered only in the Centralised Institute. Non-examinable subjects include Civics and Physical Education.
Once you have your GCE 'A' Level results, you can make your final decision on which university to apply to. Singapore only has two public universities - the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
A third university, the Singapore Management University (SMU), opened in August 2000. The SMU is a government-funded, privately managed university offering a broad-based business curriculum modelled after that of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
University courses in Singapore last at least four years, at the end of which, a degree will be conferred.
Polytechnics
The polytechnics - of which there are five - provide students with relevant and specific skills for the workplace. The emphasis at these institutions is on hands-on experience and practical knowledge. The polys strive to prepare students for industry and offer diplomas, which take between one and three years of full-time study to complete.
Polytechnics in Singapore don't require you to have completed your GCE 'A' Levels before applying. As long as you have passed your 'O' Levels, you are eligible to apply

Prelim composition [edited]
Prelim compo.
It was a cold and wet Saturday morning. The window panes glistened with snow, and the boughs of the nearby trees shone like molten silver. Little gusts of wind blew across the land, whipping up twirling columns of snow that rose and fell at every fresh gust. The rain had just stopped; what seemed to be a malevolent spirit that threw down heavy buckets of water had apparently decided to pause. There was a peaceful feeling in the surroundings, but the tranquility was about to be shattered.
A cacophony of noises was suddenly heard throughout the countryside as people rushed out from their shabby houses to catch a glimpse of what had appeared in the middle of their field in the wee hours of the morning. It was indeed enthralling to see shining gazebos and tents pitched up so quickly at night when the malevolent spirit was still at work. A well-polished sign that had been perched neatly in the snow read," Welcome to the Annual JJ fair!"
Various fun rides were already in place next to the tents, and the children began to pester their parents to take them to the fair. Alan and Alyssa, two teenagers who lived in the vincity, also joined in the long queue of people who were waiting for their turn to enter the fair.
"Wow...What a long queue we have ahead of us," Alyssa muttered excitedly to Alan. The people were gesticulating wildly at the enormous Ferris wheel that had started to rotate. "I want to have a ride on that," Alyssa grinned childishly. Soon, they were having fun in the noisy grounds, buying various knick knacks and having a go at the game stalls. It was not at all surprising that the countryside people were excited about the fair as it entertained people of all ages and provided great bargains.
Suddenly, there was a loud bang behind Alan and Alyssa. They turned around instinctively and found to their amusement that it was their friend, Audrey, who had popped a balloon behind them mischievously. However, their laughter was short-lived. There was a blinding flash of light as the spirit in the sky awoke from his short nap and threw a bolt of lightning down upon the countryside. Electricity cackled in the air as the powerful sound wave passed through the countryside. Alan, Alyssa and Audrey shut their eyes and used their arms to shield themselves from the blinding light. Upon regaining their composure, they opened their eyes hesitantly and looked around. To their horror, the bolt of lightning had struck the Ferris wheel, which was now wobbling precariously on its side. The people who were on the ride screamed and shouted for help as the three of them stood rooted to the ground, horrified.
The two pieces of metal that held the wheel in place bucked under the pressure and started to break. "Run! Run for your lives!" People screamed and chaos took over. Holding each other's hands tightly, the trio ran in the direction of their homes frantically. As if he were enjoying the chaotic scene, the malevolent spirit decided to call upon torrents of rain. The water cascaded onto the Ferris wheel, adding to the danger posed to the trapped passengers.
Gazing intently at the scene in the safety of their homes, the three friends shivered at the thought of what would have happened if they were on the Ferris wheel at that unfortunate moment. Rescue operations were soon in place despite the heavy downpour, and miraculously, everyone escaped unharmed. Perhaps the malevolent spirit was merely having some fun toying with the people, or perhaps it was purely sheer luck that ensured the safety of the people. However, one thing was for sure. The Annual fair was over.
